Ao longo do caminho Minhoto Ribeiro até Santiago de Compostela vão sendo observadas várias alternâncias no tipo de rocha aflorante. Durante grande parte do caminho, predominam as rochas ígneas de diferentes tipos de granitos. São observadas também rochas metamórficas, em particular xistos e gnaisses. As rochas sedimentares, de pequena expressão, podem também ser observadas, constituindo-se principalmente como depósitos aluviais.

No seguimento do percurso vão sendo observadas outro tipo de estruturas, tais como falhas, contactos geológicos e diferentes tipos de filões, entre outras.
De realçar o filão de quartzo do monte do Pico Sacro que, no seu prolongamento para Este, sustentou alguma exploração mineira deste recurso mineral, e que, mais a Nascente o rio Ulla gerou uma escarpa quase vertical
